Food, fun, and frisbees! That’s what’s on tap in Savannah Iloilo this coming weekend, July 30th and 31st, 2022. Huck O Hulyo is back for another year, and this time, Camella is bringing the fun to your front door. This competition is an annual event for frisbee enthusiasts.

Ultimate Frisbee Teams to Converge in Iloilo
The tournament promises a weekend filled with exciting frisbee matches between the best frisbee teams in the country.
Top frisbee athletes converge in Iloilo ready to show off their best Frisbee moves. Coming from various cities in the Philippines, they prove that they deserve the title of champions. The eyes of the country will be watching them and some will also be there to cover the event.
Huck-O-Hulyo is one of the largest Frisbee tournaments in the country and has been accredited by the Philippine Flying Disc Association (PFDA). The Philippine Flying Disc Association (formerly known as the Philippine Ultimate Association) is a nonprofit organization that oversees all flying disc activities in the Philippines. The PFDA is known as a non-stock volunteer organization of enthusiastic Ultimate players who organize regular tournaments, training exercises, and other activities for Ultimate players.
It’s been going on for over 11 years starting with 4 teams in 2009, and it has grown steadily every year. Organized by The Iloilo Ultimate Players Association (IUPA), this year’s tournament will be the biggest one yet with 20 teams and over 460 players. This is a fast-paced game that requires an incredible amount of skill and finesse.
The Iloilo Ultimate Players Association (IUPA) is a grassroots organization that was started in 2006. It is composed of players from Iloilo City, Mina, Pototan, Passi, Lambunao, Calinog, Guimbal, and other neighboring towns.
The IUPA has held regular beach frisbee tournaments for the Paraw Regatta and grass frisbee tournaments such as the Camella Cup and Huck-O-Hulyo. They will be holding a coaching seminar before the Huck event as part of their grassroots program to educate team coach/managers on new techniques and skills to improve their game.
A Glimpse of Ultimate Frisbee
Ultimate Frisbee is a sport that combines elements of American football, soccer, and basketball. The aim of the game is to score goals by catching a flying disc in the opposing team’s end zone.
The game features two teams of seven players, including four men and three women (for the mixed category), competing on a field the length of a football field but narrower. There are two end zones at each end of the playing field.
In Ultimate Frisbee, each team defends one end zone. A goal is scored if one of the team’s players catches the disc in the opposite end zone like in American Football.
The objective of Ultimate Frisbee is to score points by completing passes to other members of your team who are in a position to advance it into the opposing team’s end zone, similar to both soccer and American football rules regarding scoring points after advancing into your opponent’s territory.
Ultimate Frisbee players police themselves and follow what they call the “spirit of the game,” which expects competitors to respect one another and play by the rules. The players determine what’s fair or foul on their own.
